all,

Just bought a Hemi Challenger time capsule. Unique color combo and I’m looking for opinions on this. The car is BL1 Sandpepple beige with a tan interior. It’s a strip delete car and has a black wing on it! I’m getting ready to pick up the car which is disassembled. I’m thinking of restoring it to its original colors. Thoughts?

I pick the car up on Saturday hopefully. It’s completely disassembled so I have a couple of long days ahead gathering everything up. I also need to do research since it is possible the car only has 1100 original miles on it (1/4 mile at a time). I am really excited about this project and do plan to keep it original. It’s just such an odd color combination.

Wow, I can’t wait to hear more about it and see some pics! Keep It original would be my suggestion as well, that would be a stunning color combo! No more purple cars that never were please.

Good advice from members. Keep the original color. It is rare and unique with the hemi and the color makes it even more rare. The car's value will also be affected with a color change!
Sounds like a really cool car.

WOW!!! I'm jealous, keep it original is the way to go for sure. It looks like a low mile car. Would love to hear the story about how you found this beauty. These cars are still out there glad you found it !!! from a "real" purple car owner

I found this post interesting and amusing. When I went looking for my 'cuda my one rule was "No purple." There were just too many of them. Sorry about that purple guys.

One other interesting option for the car restoration is how it looked as a restored drag car since it put it spent its life going 1/4 mile at a time. Maybe restore to its full race car look since you have everything. Maybe some pics?

Was this car from the New England area? I seem to recall a similar Hemi Challenger back in the eighties. I might have photos that I can dig up.

I’m not sure at this point. If you have photos or any info I’d be interested to see it. Can’t be too many beige and tan Hemi rts

Jeff,

I’ve been doing some research on this car and I think it was drag raced at ATCO dragway in New Jersey in the 1970/80s. Do you think they may have been where you saw the car? I just posed the question to the track photographer to see if he remembers the car.
