    Heater Core Block Off

As I mentioned in another post about heater core replacement, I had to replace the heater core in my 71 convertible. This car is all stock. I never take this car out in cold and/or wet weather. The heater core could leak again sometime in the future. Has anyone blocked off the heater core and...

    72 Challenger Rebuild

It's been awhile since I gave an update. I waited months for a new front anti-sway bar to arrive. I got it a couple weeks ago and installed it. It looks good. Shortly after, I had to pull back as I had to get my son's 71 Challenger fixed so he could take possession of it. Last week, I was...

My Replacement Heater Core Didn't Fit - Why and What To Do

I just wanted to add that I will fill using some coolant in the new core using a funnel and will let it sit flat while I work on the rest of the case. If there is a leak in the new core, I'll see it after a few days. Terry W.

My Replacement Heater Core Didn't Fit - Why and What To Do

Here's the end result. It fits all the way around. I feel the Duralast core is okay but will require about 30 -45 minutes worth of work to get it to fit. I feel the Four Seasons core 91508 I got from Rock Auto required less work to fit although this wasn't bad. The Four Seasons core has a 12...

My Replacement Heater Core Didn't Fit - Why and What To Do

I cut the plate and after fitting it several times to get it to fit in the heater box as it should, I thought, 'why not just bend the top of the plate down to radius it with the inside radius corner of the heater box. You can see in the photo the core is now placced where it needs to be. You can...

My Replacement Heater Core Didn't Fit - Why and What To Do

Here's the results of the Duralast Heater Core from Autozone as promised. It looked good after I unpacked it. I could tell as soon as I put it into the heater box it was going to need some adjusting. The inlet /outlet separator plate was not soldered on very well. As a matter of fact, the solder...

My Replacement Heater Core Didn't Fit - Why and What To Do

Looking at the fin design on the 72 heater core, that one may be an original. The car was off the road since 1984 that I know of. Terry W.

My Replacement Heater Core Didn't Fit - Why and What To Do

So, I said I would let people know the heater core I selected for my 71 Challenger convertible as I stated in @bill70j other post on his heater core replacement. In my 72, I ordered from Rockauto a heater core, Four Seasons 91508. It fit with almost no problems into the heater housing for my 72...

    Removing a non-AC Heater Box

I didn't realize until last night that my heater box had been out before. I found that the heater core in there was an aftermarket core - it didn't fit well or wasn't lined up in the case properly. I have owned the car since 1972 but my parents stored it and occasionally used it from 1975 until...

    Removing a non-AC Heater Box

In an interesting turn of events, I found out I have to replace my heater core today in my 71 convertible. I had given you insights in posts #5 and #16. I recently had my car stored up, on my 4 post lift. I removed the 71 hardtop I had under the lift and lowered the convertible down to the...

    4 speed conversion

Shift rods and shifter mechanism, handle. May need the different adapter plate for the shifter mechanism Pistol grip 4 speed I assume? I'm not sure about the front bearing retainer size between the two transmissions. That may determine the bell housing you use if they are not the same size...

    Not amusing anymore.

@ Xcudame. I apologize for not knowing what car you are switching from drum brakes to disc brakes. I assume a Cuda. Is it a restoration or are you building it how you want it? I converted a Challenger to front disc brakes from drums over 20 years ago before there were conversion kits - just...

    Removing a non-AC Heater Box

Get a good heater box rebuild gasket/seal kit. I personally have used Detroit Muscle Technologies (DMT) heater box kit and have had everything work great. Terry W.

    Removing a non-AC Heater Box

If the carpet is in great shape, I would remove both seats, console, seatbelts, the sill plates and kick panels, then remove the carpet and clean it outside of the car and let it dry in the sun. That's the best way to do it and not have mold/ mildew. Just my opinion. Terry W.

    WTB Top of trim clips

Stainless can be welded. Aluminum is more difficult when thin. If stainless, get it welded for now if you can't find one. Terry W.
