the filter only needs to be flat and close to touching the bottom of the pan. It can be offset to one side or the other. If memory serves, the filter sets closer to the passenger side for some reason. Kind of depends on the manufacturer I guess.

When to remove the oil pickup, notice how the filter part of it moved around in relation to the pre-bent pipe. That will help you know when to stop tightening.
Will try again , Teflon tape or blue thread blocker , it's not easy crawling on the floor but it's fun figuring things out , thanks again.

The tape because you can't go tighter currently which means you need to make the pipe threads "bigger".

Melling makes a straight pipe pickup , any difference in fitting
As Xcudame says, try the teflon tape first on your existing tube. It will take up some of the "slop" in the threads. Just snug the tube up but don't go beyond the point of the pickup not being horizontal to the pan.
