Hi gang - Just put the dash in and noticed the Speedo won't zero out - stuck at 65 MPH. When I spin the cable one way it will move past towards 70, etc....but when I spin the cable the other way it sounds like it's hitting a "stop." Any suggestions on root cause? Dreading taking the dash back out....thanks! TJ

Uh oh! Sounds like you need a new Speedometer gauge! Regardless the issue, you're taking the dash back out! Sorry for the bad news. Take out and see what happens with the needle.

Challenger RTA, good question. I assumed factory stock. But the new Dakota stuff may be definitely different!

The Dakota digital instrument clusters don't use a cable, they use an electronic signal to drive the speedo. I agree with Xcudame, you will need to pull the instrument cluster out and troubleshoot the speedo.

Stock speedo....no electronics....listen out your window....you will hear me swearing as I remove the dash...

If I remove the bolts that hold the cable end of the Speedo - wil that allow the back to come off?

By removing the front cover and the two bolts on the back. The speddo comes right out.

You nailed it...it shifted then I effed it up. So I bought a new Speedo. And I was able to replace it all by dropping the column and pulling the front of the dash off....
