No matter how safe you drive you can still be vulnerable. This was posted yesterday in my local paper. Happened a few blocks from my house AND the police station is a couple buildings down from that intersection. They're still looking for the perp. Excerpt from the article: The truck is described as a black two-door Ford F-150, while the driver is described as a white female with blond hair.

That's crazy. Some people are idiots. Over 30 years ago, we had something similar happen that scared my wife and I. It was dark out and we were out in the middle of nowhere in the country. We were driving back home from our cabin in the mountains. We always have firearms with us when we go to the cabin due to bears and mountain lions roaming up there. This semi truck pulling a trailer must have had a bored driver. We had our 4 kids in our Suburban. No traffic on the 2 lane road. My wife was doing 5mph over the speed limit. This truck came up to less than two car lengths behind us at 60mph. My wife sped up to put several hundred feet between us and the truck then went back to 60mph+. The truck comes up fast behind us again and tries to get even closer to us. My wife slowed down in a passing zone to 50mph and he slowed down also, She sped back up again and so did he. I had it at that point. I climbed over the front bench seat, the middle bench seat and into the third seat. By this time, I can see his face thru the window by looking up at him. I told my wife to lower the back window on my word. She did and I let him see the rifle. I was going to put several rounds into his radiator. All of a sudden, he hits the brakes and comes to a stop. We never saw that truck again. I'm sure it made him think twice about playing games at night. It scared my family bad. I would never shoot the driver but radiators are fair game. I now carry a 12 gauge shotgun with #4 and 00 buckshot ammo access nearby, not loaded, along with my rifles when traveling to and from the cabin.

No doubt you and your family must have scared, just like the SUV driver. I hate to image how your situation would have/could have escalated if you didn’t show your rifle. Kind of reminiscent of the movie “Duel”. In my country, if I got caught doing what you did, I’d be charged with threatening with a firearm and probably a few more.

Washington State is an open carry state. The weapons in my car are not loaded while transporting. I did not aim the rifle at the truck, it was just visible when my wife put down the window. This was 35 years ago,
For years here, people carried their rifles and shotguns in a rack in the back window of their trucks until they started getting broke into. I can walk down the street here now with my rifle/ shotgun visibly slung over my shoulder. At my cabin, a loaded gun is always within reach most times.

The same thing happened to my brother a few years ago. He was stopped at a light with a car in front of him. A lifted truck With large bumper and winch. Keep revving up his diesel. Then he ran it to the back of my brothers 1 ton van loaded with equipment. Then just keep pushing the van and the car through the red light. Totaled both. Then he ran. The police go him at home that night.
Then it was a nightmare with the leasing company. For the vav and equipment.

I've seen something like this behavior, before. Twice in the last few years. The scenario is cars at a light, the light turns green, but driver #1 is on their and phone doesn't notice. Driver #2 only sees the green light just as it's turning yellow. Since it's too late to honk & when #2 is a big truck-like vehicle, I've seen them push the #1 through the intersection.
