The flash lightened up the color in that picture but that color was scanned right off a valve cover of a very low mile 67 Chry.It's an exact match for the sample I used.
Why don't you just take a valve cover or sample in and get it matched like I did.
That way you can adj the color to your taste...

I wouldn't get too carried away with that large a jet (104) as your not going to be changing any metering rods...
If you have a 98 for the rear you can put it in but I wouldn't make too many changes at once.

That carb is border line for a 340...I think it's a 600 if it's a thunder series.
What you can do is put a .101 main jet in it and leave the metering rod alone and see what happens.That should take most of the stumble out of it and then you can drill the shooter up .002 and see how it...
I pretty sure what your experiencing is a lean condition...adding a spacer is going to make your problem worse because your adding volume to the plenum...
I'd drill the shooter up by .004 and see if improves. just something I've come across many many times.
