I just love the sound of the secondaries opening on the TQ. When they open I almost think it will suck the clouds out of the sky!!! One of our favorite movies is the Blues Brothers. On a couple of scenes they open the secondaries on that car and you can hear the beautiful song it sings. Just...
Any change of intake manifold almost mandates changing or modifying the throttle cable/kickdown bracket. When the bracket is incorrect it causes the throttle/kickdown to be at a weird angle. That will certainly affect proper operation.
You can hunt down the original pieces if you still have the OE manifold or you can do like I did and go to the Lokar cable setup for both throttle & kickdown. Not difficult to set up and works great. If you go that route you won't need to get the Mopar throttle lever extension that would be...
Would be nice if you could borrow an AVS2-650 from someone to try out. It is hard to describe how much better my engine runs with it compared to a Holley.
I've had problems with the older 1406 carbs. In fact I stayed away from Edelbrock carbs for a long time after that. The AVS2 changed things for me. Some shops prefer what they are comfortable with so that may be why they like Holley's. My AVS2 idles much cleaner than the QF I have. I prefer how...
For the Holley style carb I like the Quickfuel HR 750. The ability to tune various areas (like the air bleeds, PVCR) make them an excellent choice. Alternatively, I also like the Edelbrock AVS2. For your setup, a great choice would be the AVS2 650. With the annular boosters it has superior low...
As far as the wiring goes; did you cut off the original connectors (for example the turn signal indicators or the fuel level) and then run the wires to the "brainbox" or did you solder a wire to the existing OE wire and run that to the brainbox?
The BFG's had horrible traction. I had 275's on my Duster and when I hit the gas going 40 the back end would break loose on most every surface. Scary. Sold that car and am running Nitto's on my Challenger now. They grip some better but wish I could fit wider tires on it. Not the tires fault in...
The guy I bought my car from replaced the fenders, so don't know how accurate the openings are. Also, I replaced the rear end with a Dana 60 so not sure if it is exactly the correct width. End result is the 245's are the max I can fit right now.
Depends on what will fit. I had 275's on my 70 Duster! I had to even roll the passenger inner fender lip on my 72 Challenger to make 245's fit. Had I known about the limitation in hindsight I would have made mods so I could fit bigger meats back there.
Yeah, likely foreign part with poor quality control. There are several you can find NOS from EBay. An example is this one for $25.00 (hopefully the link works)...
Not necessarily true. Ground temperature depends on the geographic location. Here in South Texas the year round ground temperature is 72*. The cost of non-ethanol is also substantially higher than even 93 octane in our area. The other factor is non-ethanol fuel in our area is only 90 octane, so...
