I installed the Borgeson steering box on this car on the last adventure, before the oil pump vibrated loose, had an issue with the steering coupler cap staying on because of the angle of the box compared to the column. I talked about this on another site, and Peter Bergman chimed in and stated...

the OEM rim blow steering wheel came in pretty nice piece, was going to install on column before install of it but thinking twice probably should wait, as long as I get the flat spot lined up for the wheel when sliding it onto the steering box. my column paint is flatter than the OEM crush can...

well ground off the bugger welds where the 2 stock layers met the new 10 gauge flat skid plate came together on the front and rear of the k member flattened the rivet welds which were decent but looking for the spot welded together look. will seam seal those edges wiping tight to leave a spot...

they get hot and seal themselves, I don't tighten them as much as I used too, just a snug and about a quarter inch turn, I've destroyed them over the years trying to get them off. bought a filter wrench that looks like a pair of channel locks that compresses as you squeeze it, got it at harbor...

got the steering column repainted and reassembled. found some paint mix left over from the charger that I painted the dash with was a grey/black mix with some matte flattener. seemed to be a little too grey on the charger so i put a black base under the paint on the column thinking it came out...

just got back in town took the parts down and will be spraying steering column parts with a grey/black with flattening agent, have it left over from my charger project. Was at Petty.s garage to see my old charger I built and sold 4 years ago still looking sweet. It is the last car to go thru...

thats what I built last year with a 12x 60 loft. this is my dirty shop now will repaint and refurb the 1800 sq. ft for assembly, clean work and possibly a paint booth someday. I don't go far usually. :lol:
