how we did it put in pickup tube so you know it will hit the bottom of the pan a little put the pan on to push the pickup remove pan move it 1/4 inch away from were it hits the pan and weld it so the pickup doesn;t move
there is a lot of adjustmet in these fenders the body tolerances were not very good back then i remember a car commercial that bragged the body tolerances were half the thickness of a human hand that would not fly by todays standers
i had that problem too the bumper ends are supposed to kick up that will bring the center down and out i had to remove and bend the ends of the bumper brackets because the brackets got hit at one time
i cut the steel ac lines off at the crimped fitting then brazed new barbs on took them and all the other stuff like brackets door latches ect. and got them cad plated at a local plater then crimped on new ac barrier hose the crimps are a little different but they look good
good question the length of the cables .. cars that had a remote pass side mirror would have a long cable going to the dash so the driver could adjust it from the drivers seat
weak springs will allow the weights to open thus advancing timing that is how it;s supposed to work what is your idle rpm ? as a test to see when the weights start to open you can lower the idle as far as you can go if the timing retarts the weights are opening at idle the springs are to weak
