Back in the late 80's, me, my brother, 2 cousins, and 2 friends all had Ford Fiestas as winter beaters / daily cars. And we had 2 "spare" parts cars we shared... Funds were tight back then and the Fiesta was a good winter car, you would be surprised how well they went in the snow...

I have power steering so can’t say for manual, but I have never hit it accidentally, you have to squeeze fairly decent on the inside or the wheel with your fingertips, I don’t think it would be a problem….
