My 1970 manual (black feed wire) lists a 1003 bulb. I can’t imagine ‘71 and up (brown feed wire) would use a different bulb. Maybe someone with a 71+ can check theirs.

I found a bullet connector having 2 yellow w/tracer in my 1970 schematics going to the time delay relay which went to the key switch lamp etc.
EDIT: I looked closer at my '70 wirings and found these two (time delay and headlight buzzer). It gets confusing when it's yellow with a black tracer or...

I made these pics for someone else on another site so might as well share them here too - engine side and interior side. I did this when converting from a standard gauge to a rallye gauge.
They look long but they’re self-adjusting. Install them, close the door and that round brass part around the button will retract down the switch. I bought new ones years ago and thought they looked long too until I tempted fate.

That kit doesn’t have the woodgrain overlay that you’ll also need. They come in 3 switch or 4 switch with choice of Top Lift or Rear Defog. Link is an example. They ship flat and need to be bent then glued to the metal plates in that kit.
