I got my oer moldings for the top of my doors and quarter panels yesterday. Unfortunately one side had linear scratches and the other side had machine marks and were unusual. Back they go
I was just wondering if I could get some opinions about the anodized aluminum trim that goes on top of the door and quarter panels. I had a reproduction set from PG classic which I found to be quite brittle and hard to work with. And it doesn't appear to have the same appearance as my original...
I was able to dig up some old pictures and unfortunately what my body man did was measure the bottom of the molding clip and weld the studs there instead of measuring half an inch up.
Well a quick update on The rocker moldings. I talked to the body man and he told me that he measured the studs off of the old one and that they were 1 in down from the top of the rocker.????? So currently I have studs welded 1 inch down on the top of the rocker and we'll have to figure out what...
I thought I would throw out a quick update. I went ahead and cut two specialty gaskets and place them on top of the insulator and was able to solve the vacuum leak in the car idled nicely. It still had an issue with the accelerator pump. I put a friend's Edelbrock on and the car ran beautifully...
I was hoping that someone could give me a hand. I need to get the dimensions for placement of The rocker moldings on my 72 cuda. I've seen things listed anywhere from a quarter inch to an inch below the upper edge of the rocker panel. Thanks in advance
I believe my base gasket is quarter inch. I did try the thicker one but it really didn't seal much better. Rather than soaking the gasket in some petroleum based product I decided I would try to put a softer gasket on top and see if it would seal
I think that might be my next step if my current solution fails. I really didn't see much throttle play when I examined it. I got some fuel resistant gasket material and went back to the 1980s and custom cut my own gaskets. I'm going to stack two of the softer gaskets on top of the hard base...
My car is an automatic. I went ahead and started a post on the fuel section since initially I didn't get much response on this one. I found a vacuum leak which appears to be in the base on the right rear mounting point. I make sure the intake was straight and I went up to summit and got some...
I'll pull the gasket off tomorrow and soak it in WD-40 and we'll see if that softens in enough to get a better seal. I appreciate all the advice. I think this car doesn't want me to finish it after three and a half years of restoration. LOL
I sprayed your car circumferentially and it's the passenger side with the leak. There appears to be very tiny leak at the throttle shaft but the sizable one at the rear. The RPMs pick up and briefly the motor smooths out following the application.
