I bought mine with a 340 and 727 in it and originally kept them with the 727 being built with a full manual valve body. The manual shift automatic was fun but after a couple years I collected the parts and swapped in the four speed- NO comparison IMO, the manual four speed is WAY more fun to drive!
I don`t mind a paint that is somewhat more shiny than OE but I think some go way overboard with making perfect gaps and mirror flat panels, I prefer seeing them more how they were with varying gaps and not so perfect. My one big pet peeve is fully body color painted undercarriages! Most cars are...
I think those who want a stock per broadcast sheet car focus on the major options like engine, transmission, colors, Shaker, a/c (for those in hot climates) etc. and things like what wheel/tire would be less important and make less of a monetary impact.
While I agree the `70-71 Mopars had the best options, highest HP etc. I don`t get the thinking that any other year is not worthy, no one cares about numbers and/or has no merit - there are many models pre AND post `70-71 that are highly collectible and worth having fender tags and other...
Unless it was a super rare AND desireable option like a Mod Top nobody cares about a fender tag on a slant 6 car except for curiosity or data collection.
Obviously those dimensions also apply to the opposite side, I was saying there are no other dimensions for the upper areas o the unibody and that trial fitting all the bolt on parts is the only way to make sure it`s OK.
The FSM has the lower unibody dimensions but there is not much else for measurements, the rest is trial fitting all the body panels once you have the frame rail and lower body points where they need to be.
Whatever the amount of rust you see multiply by 10 for what you probably really have, once you start digging you will go down the rabbit hole - sandblast, cut out, weld etc.

Need a new welding helmet as mine is pretty old and beat so need to put it on my Christmas list. Maybe even under $150 but I don`t want some cheap crap. I`m just a hobbyist so don`t need anything fancy - what`s out there for deals?
I had a claim with Hagerty about 6 years ago, the worst most stressfull, aggravating three month long process I have ever had to go thru. I dumped Hagerty and went with Grundy, a bit cheaper but no claims yet.
