I am definitely interested. I was thinking about putting a set on my car. The question I had was which are the easiest to install, requires the least amount of retrofit/modification, and requires the least amount of time to change surrounding components in the engine compartment. I know this is...
Good Day,
Can anyone out there tell me if there is any type of marking (number, code, lettering, symbol), on either surface of a connecting rod to indicate which side may face the front, rear, or centerline of the engine?
Thanks
Xcuda,
Yes, my mistake. Its the 4th bearing..........sometime I can't count . Also, I had removed the plugs in the front of the block. Thats is why you don't see it. This was when I inserted a long brush to ensure the galley was clear.
Good Day,
I have an update to my low/no oil pressure problem. The engine is a 413 wedge. I was able to locate four oil galley plugs. Two in the outside-rear-top of the block on either side of the cam and two in the front....one leading to the oil galley on the passenger side of the engine...
OK,
I understand, but also wanted to know this 'What percentage ZDDP should I use? If oil capacity is 5 quarts should I use 4 quarts of oil to 1 quart of ZDDP, or 3 quarts of oil to 2 quarts of ZDDP?
Yeah, I did not want a "lopey" cam. Always makes me think the engine is about to die. Otherwise, is there a size cam (not lopey), you would recommend to someone like me?
Chryco,
Could you be a bit more specific? I don't have any reservations against using 10/40 with ZDDP. What percentage ZDDP? Capacity is 5 quarts. Are you talking 4 quarts of oil to 1 quart of ZDDP, or 3 quarts of oil to 2 quarts of ZDDP?
Also, you say you would lean towards looser clearances...
Good Day, Members
I am a bit confused concerning bearing clearances and how to measure them. I have a stock 383 that came with a 2 bbl carb. I am adding a mild cam (See the pic). I also intend to replace the 2bbl carb with a 4 bbl carb. In the FSM, Page 9-96, it indicates a Connecting Rod...
Kenny,
It will be a challenge and may take a bit of time, but with the correct length screw driver, you can do it. It is the three vertical screws that will provide you with the challenge. You will be working blind and mainly feeling around with your fingers......You mave to remove others items...
Hey Adam,
I missed this one. When I purchased the new gauge, it came with the sender. Aslo, I connected a mechanical pressure tester and was getting the same bad results.
Thanks, Steve
I may eventually have to remove the engine so I will be able to check for this as well. In my post from yesterday I did mention that the oil filter had very little oil in it when removed.
Xcuda,
Thanks for the info. As a precaution, I will look into this. I remove the oil pan again, and the rear main seal if necessary and see if I notice anythin out of the ordinary.
Thanks for the info. As a precaution, I will look into this. Not sure if I would be able to actually see anything, but I will remove the oil pan and rear main seal if necessary, get my flashlight and see if I notice anything unordinary.[/ATTACH]
