I've done all mine with Caswell - worked great. If you just black oxide them they have a sheen like the pic of the '38' bolt but if you put them in the oven they turn to a matte finish like shown. The longer in the oven the flatter the finish. Andy

Guessing that epoxy or ? would be easy to remove with a pick without removing anything. Clean /vacuum it and the nipple that goes in there is a light press fit so I used a dab of sealer and works great. Then you have a stock setup like this. Andy

I have 1 brown and 1 black in mine and from a very slow roll, mashing it hard I can still feel a little hesitation after initially taking off. A normal roll and flooring it, it doesn't hesitate. Even a cold or warm day makes a difference. Andy
