I came across a 1978 AMC AMX with 4 speed and 258 six. A very nice car with the factory mags and flame hood decal. I remember thinking what a good thing the owner didn't drop in a 304 or 360 V8. It's great to see cars with different specs.

All true, and even the youngest E body is now 43 years old. They didn't make that many to start with compared to Mustang , Camaro etc. So even base versions are collectible and appreciating in value.
