You could call more than just the vin police on this one!
Built a convertible years ago had to have a doner saved vin, core support, and good title asking 1,500. Location Oklahoma. Thanks Okie
So what exactly are you suggesting this title without a car should be used for??? $1500 wall art???

Okie
You do realize it is a Federal offense to retag a car’s VIN to another car?
Do you realize that almost all E body owners have committed the same offense when they installed a new dash pad, you may be one also

Okie, if you change a dash pad from another existing vehicle to your vehicle, it is ok to install your vin tag from your old dash to the replacement dash. You are not "re-badging" the car with a new vin number. That is illegal. You are simply putting the correct vin tag back on to your own vehicle that matches the other numbers on the vehicle.
If you were to take the vin tag from the replacement dash and put it onto your car;
then try to represent your vehicle with a new number, then it becomes fraud.

Federal law restricts transferring
the VIN number of a vehicle to another vehicle.

Not trying to belabor the point.

As a sidebar note: vendors even sell the correct star shaped rivets to install your correct and legal dash vin tag back in a correct manner.
