At only 69,000 vehicles in I wouldn't call that late. No fender tag or build sheet? If its numbers matching you could get the date the engine was assembled off of it. There's also a date code stamped on the front of the engine crossmember that was stamped when the drivetrain was mated to the car. Also door vin decal...

My VIN is lower than yours (126000ish) and was built in the middle of September 1969. So that at least gives you a reference point to narrow it down some. Yours was probably late October to early November, I would guess.

DetMatt1 also made some very good suggestions on how you could determine an approximate date of build.

Good guess M&M. Closest Challenger I have in my database is B171xxx and it has an SPD of October 27th. So Jim, your car should have a SPD a few days before this one.
Scott.

Wow, our cars may have went down the assembly line together. Mine is also SPD of Sept 17th, and our VIN's are VERY close also. :eek:ccasion14: And yes, mine is an R/T SE also.

Actually, the door decal on mine is 09-69, so it was most likely actually assembled a bit later than the SPD of 9-17, but still within the month of September, maybe say the 24th or later that month. Since yours has a door decal of 10-69 and the same SPD of 9-17, that leads me to believe yours was actually finished up on the assembly line the first couple of days into October. You have to remember that the SPD date is only a "SCHEDULED PRODUCTION DATE" or an estimate of the anticipated build date, not the actual date the car does get built. But because our VIN's are less than 100 apart, and they are both R/T SE's, they must have been fairly close to each other on the line, I would think less than a week apart.

I'd love to see a photo of yours, the FK5 burnt orange is one of my very favorite colors and with a white top, I'll bet it is a real head-turner.

Mine is B5 blue (one repaint - original color) with White vinyl top, stripe delete car, medium blue cloth/vinyl interior, still very much original appearing car with original numbers matching driveline.
