This 73 Challenger is in Yahoo Images. Surely the wrap-around chrome hood trim is not a factory option. Any clues about where it came from?

The chrome molding was an option for the 1970 model year. the scoop looks to be added to the hood. 1972 Demons had a hood scoop that resembles the one in the picture.

Maybe an aftermarket dealer installed item. www.challengerspecs.com has eight (8) pages of available options for the 1970 Challenger. The wide chrome trim on the hood/fenders that looks like a 1970 Charger front bumper is not on the list.

That wide hood and fender trim was actually a option on the '71. They are hard to come by in any decent shape as they were made of some kind of pot metal and end up being pitted real bad.

I agree 100% with Moparlee that is the Spring Special option for the '71 Challenger. It is a very rare piece to come by even all 3 pieces like you have there.Ive seen the two fender pieces for sale on E-bag before, but not the hood piece. Quite a find you have there. They were made of some type of chrome pot metal and pieces that were found were usually highly pitted. By the way the recess that runs horizontally on all 3 pieces was painted black. Thanks, Al

Did more research and this molding seems to be fender tag code M43 = Grill Surround Molding. It is a very attractive oddity with certain color schemes.

Yea looks like the guy cut up a rallye hood to make his awesome hood scoop lol. Soo many regular hoods out there hitting the trash he could have used
