Quick question. Is the 727 kickdown linkage the same on a 70 Cuda from a 440 to a 340? If not, where is the difference? Everything or just the riser rod?
Thanks, Andy

My 340 for 1973 has a single rod, I believe some big blocks may have a two piece setup.

Someone in the know will post soon or check the service manual.

The throttle bracket is different, the upper carb to the bell crank rod is different, but you might be able to modify it.
I'm 75% sure the vertical rod might be able to be reused with some modifications.
I'll check part #'s later today

Already checked the SM, no positive answer there.
Thanks, Andy

The most confusing parts listing ever.
Upper carb rod to throttle bracket bell crank is different. Throttle bracket is different. Upper bell crank is different.
Upper bell crank vertical rod to trans bell crank is different.
I can only tell you what the parts book says that part numbers are different.
The 440 is a bit taller block than the 340, however the vertical rod is adjustable, but my memory tells me the 340 vs 440 rod has a different bend. It may be able to be modified but I'm not positive.

If you are just trying to keep everything factory stock, there were numerous different kickdown assemblies. Hard to find unless you run into someone with the same setup that has changed engines, transmissions etc.
If you are looking for something that is functional, go with a setup like the Lokar cable assembly. also Bouchillon

Well I wound up contacting Brewer's and he fixed me up with the complete assembly unique for this 340. For those interested the 440 six bbl currently in the car is coming out and the original 340 six bbl is going in an AAR Cuda this weekend.

Now we get the rest of the story... A 440? to a six barrel 340. Not a 440 to a 340.

If it’s the 3 piece system the up down rod needs to be 13 /3/4 - 14 inches without the screw on part. I may have a couple left. U need the 440 bracket also as it’s different than a 373 bracket. Top rod is different also. Kim
