Hello, I have an opportunity to buy a pair of 340HP exhaust manifolds. The owner said that they were from a 1968-60 A-body car. One manifold has part number 2863552, the other is not legible. Initial research said that this part number will fit a 1970 Challenger. I’m working on a 1971 Challenger. Any issues with these fitting on this car?

Thank you,

Yes,use the correct head pipe for the manifold. On the right is 71 the two left are for 70.Look at the 71 pipe from the weld forward that's where the difference is.
The bottom picture is of

I believe you will also need the 90 degree oil filter adapter.
You can see it in the pic RTA has posted.

Hi Challenger RTA,

Thank you for the reply. Question, the 340HP manifolds I'm interested in were for A-body 1968 to 1970. Some research I've done show the part number working for a 1970 E-body I have a set of 1970 T/A head pipes in storage. Since the manifolds were made for 1970 E-bodies, I would assume the 1970 T/A head pipes work? I'm hoping the curvature of the 1970 T/A head pipe (ahead of the welded area) would fit the exhaust manifold. I want to install all of this in a 1971 Challenger. Your thoughts...

Thank you,

I used to have them on my 1971 340 motor - they fit fine.
I believe TTI make the correct front pipe set. Price is OK and they fit well.

The manifold numbers may be different then yous. Passenger side is a 70 E body and driver side is a a 72 Dart, I think, as you can see the date code. I got my pipes from ECS gave them the manifold number and they hooked right up with no problem.I got the stainless. As the FED EX driver dropped them off,the wife's calls out the upstairs window how much are those! My replay $250. And I said softly to the driver a side! We smirked and he drove away. I think it was $550 with shipping. OH yeah It's a 71 340.

I just did this upgrade on my 71 barracuda ragtop. They fit and look great. Went with the Accurate exhaust kit which also fits and looks great. Sounds good too. Yes you need the 90 degree filter adapter.

One thing to note, the clearance on the passenger side near the shock tower is tight during install. The front and rear holes in the head get studs and the manifold doesn’t want to fit over the front one with the shock tower so close.

Easy fix was to remove the motor mount bolt and lift the engine about an inch to give you that clearance. Once the manifold is seated, you can drop it back down and not have clearance issues. I simply used a block of wood and an floor jack to lift the motor the small amount and because it was only a small lift needed, nothing rubbed or needed to get loosened or removed.

1970 AAR Cuda exhaust manifolds 2863553 & 2863549.For some reason I was thinking the TA and AAR had a longer driver side manifold down pipe. they look to be the same. the difference is in the shape. The inlet and outlet are the same. There is limed space to exit. The shape might interfere with a power brake booster and master cylinder. and if it fits my boil the brake fluid.f I recall the HEMI had a heat shield. I can't say for sure. I know the TA I had,had manual brakes. If I find a picture or someone my know better. Bottom line yes it should fit. Downloaded picture don't know if it's a real TA.

Thank you to all that replied to my question. I'm planning on taking a closer look at these manifolds this afternoon. I appreciate all the help!
