Thats the motor I'm choosing to install in my 70 cuda I have a 318 with a 904 tran 3 in the tree along with a 7 1/4 rear which is history I plan on a new drive shaft obviously and a 8 3/4 sure grip rear, whats the best option for mild street fun and the occasionally foot stomp from light to light Thanks to all replies

Sounds like we're on the same road map. I have an 8 3/4 open with a 2.76 gear. I plan on adding a limited slip and probably a 3.55. I think that this would really add the fun factor. Probably get about 2500 rpm at 55 mph on 15" rubber.

3.23's or 3.55's would be the way to go.

How much freeway driving you do and what RPM you would like to do lets say 70 MPH (or what ever speed you cruise at) is some thing to think about. Tire size plays a part in that so you will need to take that in to concideration.

Yeah 70 mph is about all on the highway maybe 80 tops really just want good performace thinking about 15's or 16's for the rear and 15'2 for the front nothing to big what do you guys think also driveshaft any advice I currently have the one that came with it would it be wise to get a new one or chop this one shorter

15's and 16's would be the rim size and has nothing to do with it. The tire hight is what you need. Driveshaft should be ok just shorten if needed. May want to upgrade the U joints if the ones in it are small.

Here is a calculator to play with. http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_speed_rpm.htm

For trans ratio just put a 1 in there. For tire hight it wants from one side to the center of the rim. Should be able to just half the over all size of the tire and be close.

Have fun with it and try a bunch of different combos out and see what you think and can live with RPM wise on the freeway.
