E63, no N95 or N96

2 pages from the 70 DODGE Challenger Dart FSM were/are confusing me, Holley or Carter......Why?
383RT posted a shot of carb listings in a thread in the 'fuel & air' forum which likewise confirms both brands were used.

One was used on California cars while the other was used everywhere else? On the broadcast sheet the number 62 actually is the last 2 digits of the part number of the R4369 Holley.

Long story short, in 1970 Carters were used on 383s with blue engines, and Holleys were used on 383s with orange engines.

A 4369 is for an automatic, AC and no N95.

so there are several possibilities Be pending on the equipment.

we still don’t know if you have an auto or 4 speed.

Actually yes we do. He said the number is 62 for the carb on the broadcast sheet.

Well that number doesn’t mean anything inthe book I have here. I’m just trying to help him out and I still don’t know what transmission he has.

if you know the trans can you post it?

The number 62 on the broadcast sheet is the last 2 digits of the part number for the carburetor. In fact if the original carb still had its original stamped triangular tag attached it would have the full 7 digit part number on it and the last 2 digits would be bigger than the rest, in this case that would look some like 29xxx62. I don’t really know the number because I don’t have the parts book for ‘70 But that carb number ending in 62 was only used on 383s equipped with an automatic transmission.

many thanx to everyone on this thread.....I took a 15 year hiatus from the hobby and mopar memory is only slowly coming back. We were pretty deeply involved from the late 80's until 'bout 2009, which was the last time we did Carlisle & The Nats, we did them for 8 years straight.
Sons have grow'd up & have there own lives and they still have excellent memories, me not so much. I was thinkin' that the 62 would be the last 2 digits of the part number. The parts book page that 383RT posted in another trhread that I reposted on this tread is what was throwing me off.

Thanx again
