I have seen burnt orange interior cars have orange columns and here is one with a black column. Certainly looks unrestored and original, is this just a hiccup in mopar production or a reason for this??? Thanks

FK5aar......... My very early LA built '70 Challenger originally came w/ a black steering column and black seat belts. When I bought the car I didn't thing a thing about it. And that was in my factory Burnt Orange interior.

FK5aar............ My Dodge was built on the first day of regular production Aug.18,'69. I believe I read that 237 cars were built on the average, daily out of LA off thier single assy. line. Mine is #113, starting w/ 100001. So originally EK2, burnt orange interior. The reason it's black is economics, a complete OEM perfect unblemished SE black interior for $100. Couldn't pass it up.

Pretty sure standard dash got a black column, rallye dash got a colored column, for 1970 anyway.

That helps too, is that same for seat belts or that's just early production numbers? My car has rallye guages and painted column with rimblow. Thanks for the input guys

When I bought my Dodge from the Dodge dealership after someone had traded it in (1973). With the burnt orange interior came a SE wood grained standard dash fascia, a rim blow steering wheel as well as a fasten seat belt light, light in glove box and ash tray light and a map light.

Then that would be standard dash and black column? Was the center of your rimblow orange? Did you keep the bottom right orange radio surround? I need that piece. Thanks for the info.

FK5aar........... When I changed out my burnt orange interior to black, I got rid of a lot of the plastic pieces Because they were so trashed out I didn't think anyone would want that stuff. The old dash pad, door panels, kick panels, back panels all got thrown, as for the horn button I painted it black to assimilate the rim blow with the new black interior, sorry, now the lower pieces to the dash They may still be out in garage, I will go look and get back w/ you.
