71 rt challenger

do all 71 rt challengers have hood pins?

looking at a 71..............what should i look for to prove its an r/t ?

also does anyone have "factory" looking pics of welds done in problem areas that maybe passed off as factory?

They don't all have pins IIRC. That's an option even with the R/T package. I'm not a numbers guru but I believe the fastest way to see if it's an R/T by VIN is to look at the letter in the second position of the vin. I think "H" is a std model, "S" is an R/T, "P" is an SE. Guys, please correct me if I'm wrong...

This should be the start of your VIN.

Also I believe all RT's had the side quarter scoops as well as the blackout on the rear quarter, grille and headlight bezels

Your vin will always start with JS23 always,, but dont forget you could get a 340 and 383 in the JH23 and JH27 non R/T hardtops and converts .. As for your hood pins it was an option ,, I,ve seen hood pins on flat reg hoods on barracudas and challengers . hope this helps ....

Challenger had only 2 vins - JH for base models & JS for R/T
Barracuda had 3 - BH for base models , BP for Gran Coupe & BS for Cuda
The difference is that you could combine a R/T with SE pkg but could not get a Cuda with the Gran coupe pkg , they are 2 distinct models
