I have a 8 3/4 third member sure grip posi that has 3.91 gears. It is completely rebuilt with no miles on it. It has a 657 case, which is the older case, but just as durable. This chunk was rebuilt and put into a 66 coronet that was set up for drag. Unfortunately, the car never made it to the track, and got parted out. I am asking $700 for it. Will ship if needed. Let's make a deal. Pm me if interested. rearend.JPGphoto-3.JPGrearend1.jpgrearend2.jpg

Thanks. I knew it was like the 741 case but didn't know what years it was from. I'm trying to figure out what it is worth.

No thanks on the GM reared. I only own Mopars. I am looking to buy all new suspension components and polyurethane bushings for my 71 challenger.

Have you tried FABO? It is an excellent center for a 340 powered A body.

I have it on FABO, FBBO, eBay, and this site. I can't believe no one needs a posi with 3.91 gears, that they can just throw in and go. I'm hearing all kinds of people are starting to scrap parts like this, cause when they need the money and no one buys the parts for awhile, the junkyards are always buying scrap. I scrapped a whole a body 8 3/4 in the fall and a 4 speed trans. Nothing wrong with them, just no one wanted to buy them for what they were worth, so I threw them on my scrap pile, which got me $1000 in scrap. I also scrapped a 74 dart that only had 36,000 miles on it. I may have to start doing that with all my a, b, and e body parts.

It's not that people don't want parts. I just parted a few cars and have had the same frustrations on selling the parts. People just don't have much money left after expenses right now. The parts will sell. You just have to wait much longer than ever before.

Remember that something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. That amount changes with the economy. They will not make these parts anymore so the more parts that are scrapped, the less parts that are available in the future. This is what drives up the price of parts. If something doesn't sell for what you think it is worth. You just have to take less, but please don't just scap the parts. Wouldn't it be better to get a little less for the parts and keep them in circulation? You just might need one of these parts in the future. No one is getting top dollar on anything right now. Just be patient.

Patience has run out. I don't think the market for old cars is ever going to come back. I tried lowering my prices. I had $700 into rearends like this and can't even get $400 for it, but if I add it to my scrap pile, I will get money as soon as I drop it off at the yard. When I get parts, or try to sell parts, I only offer them for a short period of time. Once that time runs out, I need the space or the money right away, so I discard them. I am getting rid of all my stuff, just because I think this is the downfall of old muscle cars. This economy has made me very negative about the hobby of cars. I understand that money is tight, but when I ask $500 for a part and someone offers me $100, that is just someone trying to get something for free. I would rather give it to a scrap yard. Next will be my video of me crushing a hemi cuda.

Do you have any Mopar Car clubs in your area? I bet they would love to pay you scrap prices for your stuff that you can't sell. They might even offer you more. You just need better marketing skills. Try putting a few things together to sell as a package. Sometimes it is easier to sell a group of parts than just one. Won't cost you anything to try. Cheer up Life is a roller coaster ride for every one.

This roller coaster seems to be going down all the time. Where are the hills? If I had the parts to complete a "group" then I would have more parts thatI can't get rid of.

I know what your talking about. I'm self employed, working more hours for less pay. I've cut back on everything I can, just about all my utility costs are up, but using less of then. Don't have health insurance and am now told that I HAVE to buy it or be penalized, which I don't have the money for either. I'm 51 years old, worked since I was 12 and have just about lost all hope. In my younger years in the military, I would have fought and died for this country, but I can't say that I would do that anymore. And I'm trying to figure out how to finish up my Challenger build just so I can walk away from it. How sad.

Guys !! This is not the attitude to have. It is a new year, with new opportunities. Count your blessings. No matter how bad you think that your life is,it is a lot better than most people in this world. We have freedom, a Mopar and a forum to swap information and ideas. So far ,fairly healthy.

Sorry Moparleo, but it's the same guys running the asylum. They are taking more of our freedoms away and have given me the luxury of paying more taxes (Oh, I'm not even close to that $250k threshold, LOL, not even the $50K one). Opportunities are dwindling and my patience has run out. I finally answered the question of why I work so hard for so little, I'm an idiot. Ya all take care - I'm out...............

If we don't stop giving away free healthcare, money, cellphones, etc to people that abuse the system, we will never get out from under this. If we don't get politicians in there that will stop giving themselves raises, cutback on their pensions, pay for their healthcare, and actually try to make this a better place to live, armageddon will soon be upon us.

On that note, I think I am going to go throw more parts on the scrap pile. I might have to go out and buy a hybrid next and forget all about the past, when that time gets here I am out.
