Hi!

Where can I buy 3.23 gear for a 742 house. Preferably US gear or Richmond?

Thanks

US Gear dropped their 742 gear sets years ago concentrating on the 489 case only - -and currently do not seem to be producing any domestic gear sets ( Ford . GM ,Chrysler ) since covid hit -- Richmond Gear exist in name only , unless there is some old stock sitting somewhere , as they were bought out by Motive Gear about 10 years ago ,,, stay away from the Yukon Gear set for the 742 case they are NOT machined correctly where the pinion bearing preload shim sits , the gear is supposed to be undercut at this area so the shims lie flat but Yukon has an outboard radius there which will not allow the shims to sit properly ( they distort outward ) which causes the bearing to not seat on the race correctly.,, DR. Diff probably has some type of offshore made 3.23 gear for the 742 case available ,, try to find a good used set.
