I have a 1970 A833 four speed 23-spline transmission in my big block Challenger. It is leaking fluid on my garage's floor. I looked up a gasket kit on the Rock Auto and Advance Auto sites and they both stated that the kits are for 18-spline units. There was no mention of a kit for a 23-spline unit. Is there a difference in gasket kits from an 18-spline and a 23-spline unit? Thanks.

That gasket set will work , often the gear centers have kits including brgs & syncros for the 833 also .
Have you determined exactly where the leak is , if it is a shifter O ring or the speedo seals are leaking it may be an easy fix without rebuilding the trans

Thanks. I only noticed fluid on the garage floor and am not sure where it's leaking. I'll clean the outside of the trans and then check to see where it's leaking. Before I bought the car it did sit for a while so I was thinking it was one of the two main gaskets.

Something like this I would get from a more reputable/reliable source like Brewers or Passon. Maybe those other kits are fine, but maybe they're also Chinese garbage. I'd rather do it right the first time and not have to go back if it fails. Plus I like supporting the small businesses versus the corporations.

Thanks. On the Brewer's site I was wondering that some kits call for a 26-spline 'output' which I'm not familiar with. Passon's site has a kit that I'll probably buy. The Advance Auto's gasket set was Fel-pro brand and it's hard to tell if it's made in the U.S. or not.

You can always email Dan at brewers too, he's great at communication and has tons of knowledge to get you exactly what you need.

The output shaft is referring to the tail shaft where the drive shaft connects.
I highly recommend Brewer's, they are excellent to work with..
