Is there anything in the serial # that will designate an AAR Cuda?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the VIN should start with BS23J0. "S" is the designation for AAR 'Cuda and the "J" will designate the 340-6 bbl engine.

"BS" is the designation for Cuda (BH for Barracuda).....The "J" is the 340-6pack motor which was only available in the AAR

Additionally, on the fender tag there should the Code A53 for the Trans Am package
and a tag to right of the code tag that says "Trans Am".

The 2nd character of the VIN denotes price class and not necessarily model type. The "S" is for "special" while "H" denotes "high." In 1969, you could get a Barracuda "Cuda" which would have an "H" as the 2nd character of the VIN. What's also interesting is that while the AAR 'Cuda was considered "special" price class (S), the Challenger T/A was tagged "H" in the 2nd spot for "high" price class. The R/T Challenger got the "S" for "special" price class in 1970.

You are correct but:
A53 was the Trans Am option code
E55 was the 340-6 engine code

A53 70-71 Trans Am Package
E55 70-71 340 cid 3x2 barrel V8 290hp and for the 340-4 barrel engine

Both would have been listed on the code plates
