Can anyone decide this? It's right before the last 6 vin #s

IM trying to decode this tag for someone. It's on a 72 cuda. Looks like H28 or H2B right before the vin sequence. Also what the U stands for. I can't find anything on it.

My vote is H2B. I can't say I've ever seen just a U in place of an option code. That is the first position of the options codes. There may be some significance for a U to be there, but I don't know. These codes are typically in alphabetical order, and the Uxx family of codes refers to the types of wheels and tires that came on the car.

It's H2B where the "B" is for the Hamtramck plant also known as Dodge Main back in the day.

The "U" is build to specifications for an USA order. Either a dealer or a dealer's customer ordered the Cuda. Usually the "U" is towards the end of the tag but Dodge Main was notorious for doing things a little different.
