can i test my am/fm radio on the bench ?

i have my dash on the bench for service, i hot wired (kinda ) my dash illumination to check function. the tedious not dure of wiring. looks like 3 speaker wires in one harness . and another harness has 2 wires . not sure what’s what ….currently i only have one speaker installed in dash … …

I remember checking factory radios with one speaker, an antenna, and a 12 volt battery. On the positive wire I had an inline 5 amp fuse. Others will chime in with more info and wiring diagrams! That's why this site rocks!

I've done this a few times. One speaker to the purple wire, one to the dark green (may have a tracer) then both grounded to the case. Power(12v) to the red wire and negative to the case. Antenna if you have one. You can also feed 12v to the orange wire if you want to see if the light works.
