Hadn't thought about the computer controls, but before I retired from the Government, I was a Missile tech with heavy electronics background. Might be fun to get a computer from a wreck and reverse engineer it to see what kind of voodoo these modern day techno-phobs are up to. Thanks, think that will be my long term project. Start by looking inot one of those hype chips they sell online that supposedly improves on the factory setting. I do speak machine language programs!!!

Did some research and lots of folks have modules to control the trannie without the computers (ECM??) getting into the act. Its very do-able but
without the computer, I am gathering you have to manually do a lot of things. Having said that, if your a race guy, shifting using buttons is almost second nature today. On your dailt driver, that might be more than the average guy wants to do. Sorta like, back in the day, with pushbutton Torque flights!!!! I am wondering if I can't come up with a small module of my own that mimmics the computer during normal drive mode and have a switch I can throw to overide the comp controls and go to push button/RPM shift mode??? Like I said, will make it a long term project.
On your issue, what do you have, throttle body injector?? Electronic fuelers???? If its a trottle body, might be easier than you think. Far as i
know these units have a throttle positioner pot (variable resisitor) that feeds the magic box. Vacuum and other inputs come from other sensors.
Fake the box out with a variable mounted on a carb and you may get everything to work without too much grief???
Thanks for the reply to my original post...
