casting date question

Does anybody know what the earliest casting date would be for 340 engine parts for the `68 model year?, and what does the half clock looking stamping by the date meen and how is it read?.

When ever the new models come out. Mabby jun-july of 67? Mabby even sooner as they cast the blocks monthes befor they made the cars. I don't know what is up with the clock.

I always thought the "clock" was just that and that it told you what shift made the part, but I don't recall a half of one with only 8 points. I'll have to take a look at all of the cast parts I have and see how they compare.Thanks Burntorange70.
