Working on the 73 rallye today. Craig 8 track still has power but it isn't connected to the modern stereo/speakers. I have a pioneer aftermarket radio in dash w 2. 6x9 package tray speakers each w +/- leads. The Craig has two single + leads one L one R and one lead for ground which is a common ground.

My question is....can I splice the single lead left and right to the + of the modern speaker wires and ground to where....chassis or splice all - speaker wires together?

thank you in advance for any thoughts.

so are you trying to be able to use the 8 track and speakers with the radio off? If so thinking I would hook to the speaker wires and split the ground to both. Does the 8 track have a separate ground wire for the unit itself?

Thank you for the time and reply. The unit has power and ground leads which are currently connected: power to battery and ground to chassis. There are 3 unconnected leads labeled: R, L, GROUND. I would need the other newer radio on to operate the speakers (they are running from an amplifier). So if I connect as suggested it might work yet I am concerned about damaging the other radio/amplifier if I splice the ground wires together...(R and L speaker grounds spliced to the single ground coming from the 8 track unit). Any more thoughts or reassurance?
