a noob question here

Can a Dana 60 from a late 70’s d250 work on my e body?

Guy is selling a low mile rear end with axels etc for $50...not sure on the gear ratio (only way to tell I’m assuming is to open it up and look on the ring gear?)

You can count the turns...example: driveshaft yoke turns 4.1 times to get the axle to turn once = 4.10 or 4.11. My old Power Wagon has 5.83 to 1, so the driveshaft needs to turn almost 6 times to turn the wheel once!

You may need to hold one axle/wheel from turning, and you can also determine if it’s an open differential or sure grip, posi, etc.

It depends on how much of the Dana you intend to use. The D 250 will be 8 bolt wheels and likely 12x21/2" rear brakes, both unusable. If you want to cut the ends off and just use the partial housing and centre section then you can do that. Late 70's gear ratio will likely be 3:73 or 3:54 depending on tire size and engine size.

The truck Dana won't have the pinion snubber mounts but I'm sure you could sort that out some how, even mount the snubber to the car so it contacts the axle. At $50 I would grab it for parts even, especially if it has a limited slip centre.
