Yes. I used his kit to upgrade my headlights. You can get relays anywhere, the ceramic headlight sockets were the only thing I haven't seen elsewhere, although I didn't look too hard. They are somewhat fragile and chip easily.... use good wire and relays (not Chinese). Ron Francis wiring has some good stuff. www.ronfrancis.com

I hid the relays behind the headlights to keep it clean looking and get the out of the heat of the engine compartment. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. IMG_3272.jpg

I replaced my headlights with Hella housings and halogen bulbs - a four light system. The housings are very sturdy as the glass is quite thick. They only go in one way, and one place due to the tabs on the housing. Aiming cannot be done according to the manual as they have a wider and longer light beam. This summer I am going to install HID's as I'm getting older and my eye sights not what it used to be.

Just heard back from Daniel Stern, he recommended using a H1 style light assembly for night time driving as it puts out more light than H4s.

Daniel sells good parts. I use the same basic parts in the kits i put together.

That octane kit I can buy for $4 from the manufacturer. I've also taken one apart, and it is a "you get what you pay for" type deal. My craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality is light years better. My kit also hides easily within the factory harness retaining clips, etc., no gm wire covering. There are some design issues with the octane kit that do not address the problems with mopar charging systems. A single power feed provides no redundancy.

My kit also requires no modifications to your existing wiring harness, none. It's plug and play.

Pick your parts, pay your money.

I agree you get what you pay for. Happens that I lucked out since Im using an American Autowire harness, the Challenger kit comes with the relays for the headlights.

Try to run the largest wire you can from the power point to headlights and shortest route possible. Voltage drop is a killer on light output. Light output is exponential reduced when voltage drops. A 10% voltage drop can result in ~ @17-20% reduction in light output.

The kits being discussed are not HID, different animal. They are for H4 style bulbs.

I don't do anything with HID headlights at the moment. There are some considerations for where to pull power when using HID's, same as with a std style light.

The local car shows around here usually go from 5pm to 8pm, so lights are a must

I used Daniel Stern's kit to upgrade my 71 Barracuda. I put the relays under the battery tray. First class parts.

Here's a kit I put together for a customer from CC.com

He had a special situation using fog/road lights. Took three relays and it works great.
