Folks,
Recently upgraded the throttle linkage and throttle cable and found a couple of times the throttle would stick open, as if something was binding it. Upon further investigation I found this "bar" attached to the floor plate was the culprit. I bent it back further and right now everything is ok.

Here is the picture.

Can't find any info on the purpose of the bar or it's proper positioning. A previous owner changed the carb to a Demon, so my thinking more travel was required.

Another pic I found has the bar at 60 degrees.

Any help would be very appreciated.

The photo of the bar bent as a stop is exactly how it is in both of my cars. See photo.

Terrywalker's pic is correct. Bend it back to where it is in your 2nd pic so it doesn't bind on the pedal lever.

Terrywalker and moparlee thank you.

Weird that I couldn't find anything in any of the factory manuals. After market replacement pedal systems don't have the bar at all. Another item to my winter "to do" list.

It is just a pedal stop. It keeps the pedal from going up too high when there is no pressure on it. At rest the pedal would be a reach for some peoples feet that have their heels contacting the floor.
