Headlight Relays and Upgrades

After reading another thread on this I figured I could link to some info that might be of use.. The factory headlight wiring on our old Mopars is marginal. Have you upgraded your alternator? probably... Do you have dim/yellow headlights? probably. Do want more power? of course, that is why you have a Mopar!

The full current on our headlight circuit goes thru the headlight switch, and or dimmer switch, and alot of small wire; the result is voltage drop (3 volts +/-) so your headlights are running on about 9 volts, not good. Upping the volts will help, but probably melt the puny factory wires and connectors. But, if you upgrade to relays you can run full battery power into the relays and out to the lights. Only a small amount of current will travel thru your headlight switch after the conversion. The new set up will deliver more power to the lights, this equals more heat, so use heavier (quality) wire and good relays. With a little planning you can place the relays and wiring out of view, and near the lights for short wire lengths. Also with minimal modification to your existing headlight harness.

This conversion is pretty easy with the right info and parts. I included the links for reference, so easy even a drunk monkey could do it...j/k

I have used Daniel Stern's kit and tech, it is excellent. I have not used Octane Lighting's kit, but it does have ceramic connectors. What are you waiting for? Quit surfing and work on your car!
