starting on the drivers side door panel. examined closely for a indication for the joy stick position--no such thing. have clip in place to hold cables in place. --- Need dimensions for placement...........right side panel on. bit of an ordeal to get those bottom spring clips in place

Did you remove the plastic door panel and look at the markings for the mirror control "joystick"?

I seem to recall some kind of indicator mark, on 1970 OEM door panels that were undrilled, showing the location of the joystick hole. Even so, it is possible newer aftermarket door panels do not contain this mark, which seems flawed.
