Very few , all Hemi Cudas had the shaker as part of the Hemi pkg & a lot of the six packs had the shaker also , but no Challengers had the shaker unless it was ordered separately so they are far less shaker hood challengers also the shaker was not available until dec 69 so the first cars as well as pilot cars could not have them

Seems like there are more real 71 shaker Challengers than there are real 70 shaker Challengers.

I would agree , more 71 shakers probably because more people were aware of the option

I had heard that the tooling was not ready for the Challenger shaker hoods for 1970 launch. That's why most of the early 70 Hemi Challengers had the dual scoop R/T hood instead, until the shaker was available.

The N96 shaker was supposed to be standard with the Hemi on Challengers as well, but tooling problems kept that from happening. The shaker was clearly shown in the first '70 brochure, but it was obviously a prototype since the grilles were molded as part of the bubble. From what I've gathered, the production issues were due to the greater "draw" needed for the contours of the more-complex Challenger hood stamping. A friend that worked in the local dealership at the time told me the hood panels were even hard to get through the parts system as replacements. A similar situation arose with the original Viper hoods 20+ years later. We waited over a year for one after a deer/Viper collision; they just couldn't seem to get them out of the molds without damaging them.

The same Challenger brochure also shows the pre-production Rallye cluster, by the way. The tach's scale has a "standard" (8-4 o'clock) rotation and a dark-orange "warning track" rather than the lighter production yellow, and the clock has very short second hand. The clock's set knob protrudes through the lens '72-'74 style and is black, even though there's a hole in the woodgrain for it.
