Mechanical oil pressure gauge reads 40 lb when the engine is off, 70-80 when running.

How did I manage to screw that up? I'd get it on a digital gauge with a wiring snafu, but when the engine is off it reads 40 psi, when it's fired up it reads 60-80 depending on temp and rpm. I'd like to have it read properly, even though I know I can just subtract 40 from what it actually reads.

I'll be tinkering with that and the fuel gauge trying to get both to work next weekend. Fuel gauge shows nothing, I put a new tank and sending unit in it this summer hoping it would magically work again. The tank was rotted out and the sending unit was crusty so I just stuck a new one in it. No running problems now but I'd like to know how little of my 18 gallons is left. 😂

It should be running 60-80 lbs , so maybe the gauge is is not going to zero or ti could just be inaccurate everywhere , A mech gauge to test would confirm .
The fuel gauges are rarely accurate but usually show something , does the tank have a good ground , there is a clip to the fuel line from the factory that may be missing .

Ya I saw that clip yesterday while researching, I don't have that but I ran a hose clamp with a wire attached to it to replicate and still no luck. I'll play with that this weekend and see if I can find Amy ground problems.

I'm not sure I have a spare oil gauge somewhere to plug in and test, may just have to buy one and keep this for a spare.

I pulled the front end of the Bronco apart today, too dang many projects! 😄
