I have a 70 challenger and was wondering if anyone out there has played around with installing modern front buckets before? Any ideas, details, tips, or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have done many cars with the aftermarket seats. Try to mate the new seat with the original tracks if you are going with a manual seat. If you have to drill new floor holes make sure you move the square reinforcement plates, in the floors, to the new holes. In the event of an accident you will be glad you did. Many new seats sit more straight up and down. When you mount them in the Challenger you can loose some headroom. You also can adjust how the seat sits by modifying the floor where the rear of the seat mounts.

I have done modern seats in my challenger out of an Acura integra . You have to play with the mounts and do some fab work but it's much better then the stock seats and I didn't care since my car is completely custom

I just finished installing a pair of leather Hyundai Tiburon seats. I REALLY like the extra support. After autocrossing the car a few times different seats were mandatory! I also took this opportunity to also make the adapters so the seat would go back further. I'm 6'1" and was tired of having my legs wrapped around the steering column! Wrecking yard charged me $35 each so I bought 4 thinking I might get a pair reupholstered down the road to match the stock pattern. They are manual adjustable ( No wiring!) recline and have adjustable lumbar. The bottom also is adjustable , it tilts up and down.

You can try Corbeau website and pick the seats you want and they have custom made brackets that will fit the car without any modifications. I am looking to put those in my 70 challenger and have the option to swap the old ones in when I want.

I've installed light weight racing buckets using the factory floor guides and making some adapter plates to them.. works perfectly. For seat choices, I suggest that you try to sit in different brands, models, etc.. so to see what "fits you"... like trying gloves, shoes, etc. Some seats offered through the aftermarket (Corbue, Sparco, etc.. so many different kinds and price ranges!!!) will be offered in different widths.. standard, med, large, x-large.... makes a huge difference in "fit"to your personal frame. i have a Corbuo GT8 that fits me like a glove for racing; I also have a pair of JC Whitney GaragePro performance reclining seats (looks like expensive Recaro's, etc) but they fit me well, high side bolster, reclining.. and on the lighter weight side.
