my 70 AAR tribute Cuda

Almost done with my tribute Cuda hopefully the correct hood soon as I find one I painted the car with Super Blue/aka petty blue some Mopar guys told me they never saw a AAR with this color and I have not yet seen one either do you guys know of any that had this color for 1970 ? I have seen this color on the 70 Super Birds and always like it ! hope you guys enjoy the pics of progress on my bucket list.

I’ve seen this one out there for a long time. Original, I have no idea but I like the color.
I thought about doing mine the same way. It’s the same color and very little original about it.

Keep posting and one of the AAR guys will show up and chime in on the color question.

I believe this color in 1970 would have been code 999 as it was not a standard color option.
I too am very curious if Petty Blue was available in 1970 as 999.
If it were available on cuda's in general I would suspect someone somewhere would have ordered an aar with that color.
Perhaps @6___ , oh yeah, I am on febo not ebodies org.
I don't know many numbers guys on this board, surely someone can chime in on the question.

My first cuda was a no fender tag Petty Blue.
Couldn't find any other colors on the car.
I now really like the color after driving it for a little while.
Excellent color choice in my opinion.

I found the Petty Blue paint!

Under all that ugly paint I found the original Petty Blue. This is that 72 Duster 340 3 speed manual I picked up this weekend. Wanted to sand that old paint off to see what I had. I've got some better doors off a 72 Gold Duster that will go on it. That's why I didnt waste paper sanding down...

I did some looking to see if there were any T/A-AAR 999 special paint cars built but did not find anything in pricing bulletins or other documentation.
The special run of these cars may have restricted the color selection to the colors available at that time (early months of 1970). Moulin Rouge/Panther Pink and Sassy Grass Green/Green Go were available and added right before the T/A-AAR run began.

A Petty Blue AAR would have been a cool, T/A-AAR optional color but I would rely on the experts, like Barry Washington, to chime in on this question.
Bottom line: not likely that any 999 special paint cars were built with the A53 - Trans Am package.

I am pretty sure that the Petty Blue was first offered in 1972. My 72 Cuda is Petty Blue, so any 70/71 would not be Petty Blue (unless it was some sort special order...)

yes I think Ford called it corporate blue also so from 72-74 Cuda and challenger shows B3 - super Blue also Basin Sreet Blue AKA - petty blue my friend has a 70 Super Bird V code that is this color just didn't know if it was available as a option on AAR Cuda ??? ty for your reply

B3 on tag and build sheet original color on 1973 Cuda which also used on 72 Cuda also my friend has a 73 ralley challenger that also came with this color too my friend has a 70 Super Bird V code with this color also I will check his color code this spring ty for your reply
