need opinions on this 360 for $300.00

Just spotted this on craigs list for $300.00 without knowing exactly what is wrong with it does it sound like a good buy? I`m thinkin intake and valve covers are at least worth $150.00 . It`s only a few miles from me, I got voicemail when I called.

This is the text from the ad:
Up for sale is an early 70's chrysler 360 v8 engine. It needs to be rebuilt. It comes with adjustable pushrods, 1.6 rockers, performance camshaft, aluminum weiand 4bbl intake, and chrome moroso valve covers.

i would proable want to take of the valve cover and oil pan to look inside.I almost bought a 75 -360 for 350 but decided to wait. If it looks good inside i think thats a good price but thats my opinion

Turns out I know the guy who owns this. Honest guy he just wants it out of the way in his shop sick of tripping over it I guess. The heads are good sounded like a mild cam in it according to him he didn`t know a lot about the motor he didn`t build it. He had it running but it wasnt sounding right so he scoped it and could see a small piece broke off a piston. It still ran but he shut it off not wanting to damage it more If I get it I would drop it off at a local engine shop near me and let them tell me if it is worth fixing and anything else they can tell me about it. The guy who owns it thinks that 1 piston might be all the damage it has in it. I`m leaning towards getting this I think it will be a good deal.

I would only offer my Craigslist experience on a 340 that I currently have about $2800 in and still no top end. My build does include boring and a new rotating assembly though. I would still think $350 not bad for a core. Good luck. Check the bore if you can.

sounds OK even if it needs a full rebuild , the intake & rockers are worth the $300

I have this motor at the machine shop right now can anyone recommend a decent carb for this? I see so many different ones to choose from my head is spinning. I`m looking for something fairly affordable 750 cfm elec choke, vac secondaries. I would like to use an oval 6 pack style air cleaner with it so I don`t know if there are any clearance issues I need to be concerned with as far as my choice in carb goes.

I would use a Proform , Mancini has the best pricing on them
