I've been collecting 'E' bodies since the '70's. I have 4 convertibles and several hard tops. Most of these were bought in the early '80's.
Current project plan is my triple black 6 auto '71 convertible Challenger.
I bought it at an abandon vehicles auction for $440.
Question for the group, info about the factory 'E' body locking gas cap.

What is it that you want to know about the locking gas cap?

:welcome: to FEBO from New Jersey
Can’t wait to see pics of your cars; especially those verts!
The locking gas cap was designed to fit under the flip open outer gas cap. What do you need to know?

Howdy from Colorado. I'm dying to know about the cars you have?

Any 70 barracuda's? Love to see pics of that triple TX9 Vert.
Does it retain it's /6 tower of power?

Welcome also, from Denver. Sounds like a great collection you have........ Yes, post pictures!!
On topic of locking gas cap.......my '71 Challenger came with a factory locking gas cap. Pictures of mine are below.
HOWEVER, I have not personally seen this type of cap elsewhere nor have I found it reproduced. The standard restoration product sites, like Year One, etc., sell a more "standard looking", flat locking gas cap like this:
1966-74 A B E-Body Locking Vented Fuel Cap 1970 1974 Cha... .
The rubber seal sleeve attached to the flip top cap to seal the lock of the above "flat" gas cap does not fit with my style cap and did not come on my car's original flip top cap.
Any clarification from the experts on this site as to the two different styles of Challenger locking gas caps is most welcome and appreciated. Is a new rubber seal ring available for this style of locking gas cap?
Thanks........

A few photos:

Challengers : black '71 and a B5 '70 behind it. Both 6 auto. The '70 has air.

Baracudas : triple white is a gran coupe convertible, second is just a 318 auto.

All refugees saved from the crusher many years ago!

Better photos and more info later.

Obviously, they are pretty rare. I saw one for sale here for 1,200.00 bucks. I don’t know if it’s a factory option but, probable.
Nice collection there!

My early (August build) '71 Challenger came with the PRESSURE VACUUM style which has the ECS tube in the trunk with four lines to the tank on one line to the engine's three tube breather. Fender tag shows "J46" Locking Gas Cap.
There is a used PRESSURE VACUUM one for sale on Craigslist near me for $500. The seller claims "This is the 1971 and up style Pressure Vacuum cap,, Rare factory part in like new condition."

My '71 Challenger 383 also came with one. I replaced the original with an NOS NIB years ago for $25 bucks!
