Have a 73 Challenger , power disc and rear drums, is the proportional valve rebuildable? Just spoke with inline tube they told me they are unavailable. Is there a way to test an old one to see if it works? thanks for any feedback

As was mentioned, Musclecar research has the rubber parts to rebuild yours. It takes 3 kits to get all of the rubber O rings. They are not real tough to rebuild. I just did one like yours a few weeks ago. Yours is more than likely siezed up from moisture and dirty fluids. It has been 50 + years so it is to be expected. I have a few tips if you decide to rebuild it yourself.

Thanks for the reply, ill look into this definitely. Did you soak it in something to clean it out ? Ill definitely rebuild it myself. Would appreciate any advice. By the way what 3 kits are involved?

Here is a picture of the order form I got for the 3 kits. I lost the little brass hat and small spring that was at the bottom of the metering valve assembly so that was miscellaneous parts I got with my three kits. Almost surely your metering valve is stuck. If you can get it out in one piece, maybe you can just clean it up and reuse it all. If it don't leak, maybe you could get by without the new rubber parts but as long as you have it apart, I believe it would be beneficial. I didn't soak mine in anything since it was not too bad just dirty and gunky. Once you get the metering valve out, you can take a long 1/8" punch and drive the brass cylinders and the seat out. Here is a video of a guy rebuilding a Kelsey Hayes unit.

I cleaned the bores up on my unit with a 1/2" brass brush that I chucked in my drill motor. I wrapped a piece of 3M scratch pad around the brush and ran it in and out of the bores to clean them up. Here are a couple pics of that and also a pic of the bore after the metering valve is out. You can see the small opening that you can slide the small punch in to tap the brass shuttle valve cylinders and seat out the other end. Once you get everything cleaned up with 4 **** steel wool, you can put on the new O rings and I used some new Synthetic Dot 3 brake fluid to put it all back together.

Now I'm curious who the white something or another is.
Any chance you can find that name of who rebuilt yours?
