I have a 340 (year unknown) with a 727 trans. I have a 650 cfm Edelbrock Performer carb and headers. Other than that it's stock. I plan on using it as a daily driver. I currently have an aluminum manifold that has a MOPAR marking but no part numbers. This manifold has only one source to measure water temperature. I want to add an electric fan and fuel injection in the future. I don't want to cut into the hoses to add an adaptor. Also, I couldn't find an adaptor that will take a 3/8 inch temp sending unit. Does anyone have any recommendations for good performance and provide the temp ports I need? Thanks

Post a picture someone might know about it.

Non T/A block 68-73,2780930-340.
The casting date is above or below the casting number on the side of the block, which is at the back side of the block. Secondary codes are also on the block at the front drivers side below the head. You will find a number like this:
F340P0018 10 16.

A meziere #WN0028U is a thermostat housing that gives you a 3/8 ported opening. Summit has it. I used it on a Gen 2 Hemi because no water in the manifold and needed Temp. sensor for F.I. installation.

According to Summit racing and a member of this forum, this part won't fit. It's designed for a big block and I was told that the big block thermostat housing is different.. Thanks.

The big block and the LA engine use the same thermostat housing, I have a hemi and a 74 318 and both have the same size thermostat housing. It's the magnum engine that uses the smaller thermostat housing. The bolt hole CL is 3 1/4" on both therm housings. Unless you have a magnum manifold on your 340, and it has to be one drilled for LA and magnum then maybe you are SOL.
