I found a donor RV/motorhome, '76 440 727 w transbrake. can i use a small block 727 shaft and tail cone to convert the RV 727 to my car?

You can. But be aware that the splines on the tailshaft change in 75, so if your donor trans is earlier, you may have to swap the planetary and rear drum parts.

it is an earlier small block, 73 i think so i was planning on putting everything from the small block into the '76 big block case.

That would work. The motor home trans might have an extra clutch on the front drum, but that is a direct swap.

I just did a 78 440 motor home trans. Great unit. It looks like the HD HEMI stuff I shared in my book.

When I bought my 70 industrial 413 (rebuilt it as a budget rebuild with my son), I also got the transmission too. The transmission has one of those brake drums for the parking brake that I'm hoping to swap out with a regular tail shaft and housing. I'm hoping the transmission has the HD stuff!
