Here's a few:

-Pull plugs & soak cylinders with lubricant of choice. You may want to do this several times over a week or so period. It wouldn't hurt to eyeball the plugs for any issues. Just for firing up purposes, you could clean them up and reuse them for the time being if they look ok (just like the other ignition components (ex. point(s), rotor, cap, cond, wires, etc.) if it is a point setup).

-While the plugs are out, turn the crank by hand and squirt a little more lub in the plug holes.

-I am sure you will need a different battery that is fully charged because chances are you are going to be cranking for a while before it fires.

-Re: fuel. You could setup a make-shift fuel tank/can and run the fuel pump directly into it or go through the whole procedure right now of inspecting and/or cleaning out the tank and the fuel lines. If you don't draw fuel be prepared to have another carb handy or take a look at your pump. Also, replace the fuel filter and lines.

-Replace the oil/filter from the git-go (as a precaution).

-Check radiator and fill up as necessary. It wouldn't hurt to physically check hoses and belts but you can replace them after fire-up.

-When you do fire up, either you and/or a friend should be looking for leaks or any other issues. After this point. if you are happy with what you hear/see, you can replace all of the other parts as mentioned above (ex. ingition parts, hoses, belts, etc.). and get the timing light out.

-This is just to fire it up. You will have to take care of other areas in order for it to be operable on the streets.

Good luck.

Welcome aboard.

Good list.

Marvel Mystery oil in each cylinder filled to the top. Let it sit for a day before you try and turn the crank. While you wait, inspect all rubber hoses. Start at the gas tank and not just the rubber for the sender, but also the multi lines at the top front of the tank. (I also have a '73 and was just there myself.)

Axle rubber line, disc rubber lines and then Master Cylinder fluid level.

Then move to the engine compartment and IMO, I would replace every hose after intail start up and change every last drop of and fluid including the brake fluid. All fluid has a shelf life and it is way passed due for all of them. Filters as well like mentioned.

The carb is likely to need a rebuild, even more so if there was any gas inside of it at all.

Welcome to FEBO.

Also don't forget to check the brakes before you go for a drive. Good luck.
