So I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel. My 70 Challenger R/T 383 Auto is entering the paint booth next weekend.

One area I still need to address is the starter. There seem to be sooooo many choices and manufactures and prices it can be pretty confusing. Wondering if anybody has a recommendation good/bad or indifferent. Been checking out Jegs and Summit and NAPA and everybody. Should there be anything in particular I should be looking for in a quality starter?

Personally I go to the local wreckers & grab a mini from a V8 Dodge truck 88 or newer , often the contacts are worn but they are under $5 for the pair & are easy to change out , they are just under the small steel cover held on with 3 screws total cost should be around $30 , I have never had a reliability issue with the mini starters but you could grab 2 if you are worried

I just replaced a rebuilt mini starter I bought off E-bay only lasted about a year for me. Plus i didn`t realize it at the time but the connections were for a newer vehicle and didn`t match up to my wiring so I had to make my own harness for it. I just bought this one at Rockauto http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1414442&cc=1087714. Brand new starter not a rebuilt and no core charge put it in last week so far so good!

So you are saying that the 88 and newer starters will bolt up and engage properly on the early motors?
In my case 360LA vs 5.9 Magnum but will be keeping the A833.
sorry to thread jack.

Mike.
